According to official regulations, any costs of repairs of the damage caused as a result of road accidents are covered from the insurance of the driver, who caused the accident (the perpetrator). The injured person may expect the insurance to cover the costs of restoring his/her damaged vehicle to the state from before the accident, and also – to cover the costs of other forms of compensation for the incurred damages. One of the forms of such other compensations, which is often not mentioned by the insurers, is covering the costs of renting a replacement car. The person entitled to take advantage of this form of compensation is any person, whose car was seriously damaged in a road accident not caused by this person, and who needs to use the car for serious purposes, like performing his/her work, attending medical treatment, driving children to school etc. The insurer of the perpetrator of the road accident is obliged to cover any costs of renting a replacement car.
